Section 508 accessibility standards on this site

The Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Program website has been designed to be compliant with Section 508 and other laws written to facilitate Internet access for people with disabilities.

Section 508, included in the 1998 amendments to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, says that Federal websites and other forms of electronic and information technology must be accessible to people with disabilities. The Center for Information Technology Accommodation (CITA), in the U.S. General Services Administration's Office of Government-wide Policy, has been charged with the task of educating Federal employees and building the infrastructure necessary to support Section 508 implementation.
