When it comes to serving his community, Stan has never cared about labels. Instead, he has lived by the values his father taught him at a young age: maintain your personal integrity, stand up for what is right, and work hard for what you believe in. Do these things, and you will live a life without regrets.
That's why thousands of Coloradoans across the political spectrum voted to make Stan their State Senator in the traditionally-Republican Senate District 15 in 1994 and 1998. That's why Coloradoans like Gale Davey, a Republican since 1955, have decided to support Stan's Congressional bid. Chief Davey, the retired former Chief of Police from Stan's home town of Fort Morgan, has known Stan for many years, and calls him "an upstanding, moral, and principled Coloradoan" with a tough attitude toward crime.

Bruce Broderius, former Republican 4th CD Delegate
"I'm a Republican because I don't want the government butting in"
"The main reason I've been a Republican all these years is that I value my autonomy and my independence. I'm a Republican because I don't want the government butting into my life where it doesn't belong ..."
"That's why ... I could never support the kind of in-your-face government interference that Marilyn Musgrave represents. It would be against the principles I hold dear and against the very basis of my loyalty to good Republican values. ... I oppose Musgrave because I am true to Republican values"

Musgrave does not represent our views |

"I don't let anyone tell me who to support
farmers are very independent-minded people"
"I should tell you that although I worked as a schoolteacher for 25 years, I grew up on a farm and I'm still a farmer at heart. And farmers are very independent people. They don't like the government or anyone else telling them what to do or how to do it."
"So what I like about Stan is that he is independent-minded, too. He looks at the broad issues, not just a narrow point of view. He thinks for himself, and is not a dogmatic Democrat. I don't like dogmatic politicians, whether they are Republicans or Democrats. Stan is very intelligent and willing to listen respectfully to both sides of an issue. I like that."

Betty Jo Ehn of Greeley, a lifelong Republican Party activist
"Stan tells the truth about his record, and I like that"
"As a Republican who has actively been involved in many Republican campaigns over the years," Betty explained, " I wasn't about to support Stan Matsunaka until I knew more about him. So I did a lot of research on his voting record, and looked up information about what he said and compared it to what he actually did."

Fiscally conservative, socially moderateJust Like the 4th District

Common sense solutions. Getting the job done. Working together. Bi-partisan. These phrases have been used to describe Stan Matsunaka by Coloradans who have known him throughout his life.
As Leader of the Colorado Senate, it was Stan Matsunaka's job to bring Democrats and Republicans together. As a State Senator, Stan voted for over 30 tax cuts, balanced eight budgets and fought for over 5 billion dollars in tax refunds. Stan is proud of his record of consistent tax relief for Colorado families and business, and invites you to see his voting record for yourself.
Stan has been a deacon in his church and a leader in dozens of volunteer organizations. He has served as a role model and basketball and football coach for thousands of young women and men in the 4th District who have grown up to become good citizens, whether Republicans or Democrats.

Praised by Governor Owens and Republican leaders

Review his Record, look at his Plan, and read about how he grew up here in the Fourth District as a fourth-generation Coloradoan.
See how this fiscal conservative and social moderate has won the praise of Governor Owens and other Republican legislators for creating a common sense bi-partisan transportation plan that will benefit Colorado's working families for years to come.
Stan welcomes your support
No matter what your party affiliation, we hope you'll agree that Stan Matsunaka is the best candidate to represent the 4th District in Congress. "I welcome Republican voters to my campaign," said Senator Matsunaka, "and I look forward to listening to and representing the interests of all of my 4th District neighborsboth Republicans and Democrats alike."

| Why the Greeley Tribune endorses Stan |
| | |
"Stan Will Make Colorado Proud"

The Greeley Tribune gives Stan Matsunka a resounding endorsement: "Matsunaka typifies the West."
The Greeley Tribune has endorsed the Republican candidate in every election for Colorado's 4th CD since 1972: Jim Johnson, Hank Brown, Wayne Allard, and Bob Schaffer.
The Tribune praised Stan's bipartisan approach, noting that "Matsunaka has shown an ability to work with both parties," and that "the 4th will be best served by someone who does not vote purely along party lines." Regarding Stan's opponent, the Tribune observed, "Marilyn Musgrave works too often along the fringes of her party. She has focused mainly on a conservative social agenda. She has not shown an ability to be an effective leader in the state Senate."  read it yourself!
