 Musgrave's Fundraiser Larry Pratt

Musgrave's Extreme Right-Wing Agenda
Revealed in Alliance with Larry Pratt

who is he?

Marilyn Musgrave accepts campaign contributions raised by Larry Pratt, who was forced to resign from Pat Buchannan's presidential campaign in 1996 because of his ties to extremist hate groups. Rather than repudiate the politics of hate, Musgrave accepts his tainted money as "legitimate"  (Rocky Mountain News, 10/15/02).

When questioned about Pratt's extremist connections, Musgrave's first reaction was to deny knowledge of them. Now that she knows, why isn't she returning the money and repudiating extremist hate groups and their allies?

Pratt's values are not the values of the good people of the 4th District. Hatred and fear-mongering have no place in this community. Larry Pratt has been linked in national press reports to hate groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and the neo-Nazi Aryan Nations as far back as 1992 (USA Today). Even after stepping aside as co-chairman of Pat Buchanan's presidential campaign because the press revealed his alleged links to extremist groups, it is no secret that Pratt remains linked to these groups today (Rocky Mountain News, 10/15/02).

Larry Pratt is a key figure in American Militia circles, and has spoken at meetings where Aryan Nations Chief Richard Butler and former KKK leader Louis Beam were also invited to speak (USA Today). In fact, as reported in a recent article in the Rocky Mountain News, he is scheduled to speak this November at a meeting of the League of the South, a neo-confederate white-supremacist group that believes the South should separate from the United States and form an independent nation (see their statement).

In addition to his speaking engagements and other activities, Larry Pratt is providing money and fundraising help to Marilyn Musgrave. His special interest group is one of the highest contributors to Marilyn Musgrave's campaign.

Is this the type of person Musgrave should be welcoming into her campaign?

The Pratt Fall
"How stupid do they think we are? If we are to believe Pat Buchanan, he didn't have a clue until the day before yesterday that his campaign co-chairman Larry Pratt, commandant of Gun Owners of America, had any connections to the most racist, anti-Semitic and heavily armed organizations of the American far right. But in fact every single piece of information about Mr. Pratt that made headlines this week is old news, having previously been uncovered by watchdog groups and published in countless journalistic outlets."

Buchanan denies aide racist
"Moving quickly to stamp out the flicker of scandal, GOP contender Pat Buchanan said yesterday that his campaign co-chairman would take a leave of absence amid allegations that he was associated with militia and white-supremacist groups."
