Stan Matsunaka: Six for Six

Six leading newspapers enthusiastically endorse Matsunaka for Congress

FT. COLLINS—It started with the Greeley Tribune—the first time in over 30 years the paper had endorsed a Democrat for Congress. One for one.

Then the addition of Longmont to the 4th district, a small piece of Boulder County, gave the Boulder Daily Camera a chance to pick their favorite in the race for Congress. They did: Stan Matsunaka. Two for two.

The Denver Post, who had endorsed Bob Shaffer in 2000, decided to throw their hat in the ring and come out in support of Matsunaka. Three for three.

The Rocky Mountain CSU Collegian, the voice of one of the largest universities in the state, showed that college students care about the political process far more than they're given credit for. Four for four.

Next, the Fort Collins Coloradoan endorsed Matsunaka, citing his long record of moderate, bipartisan leadership for Colorado families as the main reason for making their pick. Five for five.

Today, the Rocky Mountain News endorsed Stan Matsunaka for Congress, praising his record as an independent-minded pragmatist who'd work hard for small-town and rural Colorado.

"Six for six," said Jim Merlino, Matsunaka for Congress campaign manager. "It's clear to me that the people of the 4th CD know there's something unprecedented going on here. Stan Matsunaka will win this race, and everyone here in Colorado knows it. "
