Conservative Blue Dog Democrats Endorse Stan Matsunaka

 Conservative Blue Dog Democrats

FT. COLLINS—"The conservative Blue Dog Democrats stand for working families, strong moral values, and fiscally conservative government, and I am honored to receive their endorsement," said Stan Matsunaka, candidate for Congress in Colorado's 4th CD.

"The Blue Dogs have a reputation for creating common-sense legislation with bipartisan support, a reputation I worked hard to earn as Colorado's Senate President. Coloradans are tired of partisan bickering and want a Congressman that will support good ideas over party politics."

Announcing the endorsement, Congressman Allen Boyd (D-FL), Blue Dog and member of the House Appropriations Committee said, "The Blue Dog Coalition is happy to extend an endorsement to fiscal conservative Stan Matsunaka. We look long and hard to recruit and endorse candidates whose vision for government is like our own—an economic model for businesses and working families across America. The government should be a model for financial success that allows us to keep our books in balance, our spending in check, and pay as we go. When we heard Stan's philosophy was right in line with ours, we asked him to join our group, and we're proud that he's accepted that invitation."

The Blue Dog Coalition was formed in the 104th Congress as a policy-oriented group to give moderate and conservative Democrats in the House of Representatives a common sense, bridge-building voice within the institution. Since then, the Blue Dogs have successfully injected a moderate viewpoint into the Democratic Caucus. The Blue Dogs played a significant role in welfare reform legislation, and will work to finish the job of truly balancing the budget without stealing from the Social Security trust fund.
