Matsunaka First Colorado Congressional Candidate on TV
FT. COLLINSStan Matsunaka will begin airing ads on broadcast TV this Monday, September 16. "I'm the first Congressional candidate on Colorado TV, but I'm sure I won't be the last," joked Matsunaka. "This positive TV spot highlights my strong fiscally conservative Colorado values, and my dedication to family and community." Matsunaka campaign manager Jim Merlino said, "This spot presents positive information about Stan Matsunaka, and I'm looking forward to a positive campaign based on the issues of improving education, protecting Social Security, and providing affordable and accessible health care and prescription drugs." The spot was created by Strother Duffy Strother media consultants, and is available for viewing online at: www.Stan2002.com/ad_success.html. All media outlets have permission to use and air any part of the Matsunaka ad for their coverage of Colorado's 4th Congressional District. Whos's Who of the Matsunaka Spot Kathy Matsunaka: Also a native Coloradan from Fort Morgan, Kathy is Stan Matsunaka's wife of over 25 years. A registered nurse and mother of three, Kathy and Stan live together in Loveland, Colorado. Melissa Matsunaka: Melissa will graduate from Colorado State University this year. This past summer Melissa worked as a whitewater river guide on the Poudre River. Brian Matsunaka: Currently attending Colorado University, Brian played football all four years of high school as a running back, with his father Stan as the coach. Kristi Matsunaka: Kristi is in her senior year of high school at Thompson Valley. Dean Matsunaka: Stan's oldest brother Dean lives in Fort Collins and is a familiar face about town riding in his motorized wheelchair. Dean was born with Cerebral Palsy and diabetes. After the death of Stan's mother when Stan was only 11, he helped his father Harry raise Dean and Stan's three younger brothers. Harry Matsunaka: Stan's father Harry served in WWII with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, the most highly decorated unit of its size in American military history. He signed up for the unit immediately following the start of the war and served with the unit in every major engagement. Football Players: Stan served as the Loveland High School freshman and special teams football coach for three years, and served as the offensive coordinator, running back, and receiver coach for Thompson Valley High School for four years, where his son played running back.
