"Colorado has a history of
voting fiercely independent
in the true spirit of the West.

The state is best served by
someone with a conservative
fiscal sense and a strong
sense of individual rights.

. . . these are characteristics
found in Matsunaka.

Matsunaka will make
Colorado proud."

Greeley Tribune, 10-11-02

The Greeley Tribune

The Greeley Tribune gives Stan Matsunka a resounding endorsement, saying that "Matsunaka typifies the West."

The Greeley Tribune has endorsed the Republican candidate in every election for Colorado's 4th CD since 1972: Jim Johnson, Hank Brown, Wayne Allard, and Bob Schaffer.

The Tribune praised Stan's bipartisan approach, noting that "Matsunaka has shown an ability to work with both parties," and that "the 4th will be best served by someone who does not vote purely along party lines." Regarding Stan's opponent, the Tribune observed, "Marilyn Musgrave works too often along the fringes of her party. She has focused mainly on a conservative social agenda. She has not shown an ability to be an effective leader in the state Senate."  read it yourself!

who could work with
both sides and get

"We support Matsunaka in the belief that he would serve in Congress as an independent-minded pragmatist who'd work hard for small-town and rural Colorado, as befits someone from a district that extends across the eastern plains."  read it yourself!

"Our choice:  Matsunaka
for Congress . . . His views
best represent the
interests of the sprawling
4th Congressional District."

Ft. Collins Coloradoan

"[Stan Matsunaka] has long been a middle-of-the road representative who is interested in getting results. But he's strong enough to not get bullied into supporting ideas that are bad or not fully developed. Musgrave's . . . social agenda seems to take precedence over issues that are important to residents of our area, such as education and health care. It's time for moderate views, such as those Matsunaka espouses"  read it yourself!

"Stan's our man:
Matsunaka's middle-road
inclinations for important
issues, like bad roads,
overcrowded highways,
underfunded schools, are
needed for this area."

Rocky Mountain Collegian,

Rocky Mountain Collegian

The Rocky Mountain Collegian states, "we think Stan is the man and Marilyn Musgrave is too conservative for the changing area. [Stan Matsunaka] has long been a champion for sound agriculture policies, health care, and rural educational needs. He has also worked to improve transportation and growth in the area and has helped pass an alternative energy policy, which included making more wind farms, solar farms and biomass fuels. . . Marilyn Musgrave . . . is best known as a militant foe of abortion and gay rights."  read it yourself!

"Moderation for the 4th:
Pragmatic Matsunaka
well fits the district . . .
we think Matsunaka's
moderate, pragmatic
politics make him
the best choice"

Boulder Daily Camera

"Pragmatic Matsunaka well fits the district" says the Boulder Daily Camera. "He has won repeated election to the Senate in a strongly Republican district . . . he worked with Owens to craft a compromise transportation plan in the waning hours of the legislative session . . . Marilyn Musgrave . . . spends too much time working her extreme social positions"  read it yourself!

" . . . we also like politicians
who drive the extra mile to
include us rural folks in the
process. Thanks for
dropping by, Stan.

We urge Prowers County
voters to consider that
when they go to the polls."

Lamar Daily News,
11-01-02

Lamar Daily News

"... we'd like to remind the voters that Marilyn Musgrave's only appearance in Prowers County was a fleeting visit in conjunction with the annual Lincoln Day dinner.

Matsunaka, on the other hand, has visited the county twice, has spent far more time and effort to meet with his constituents, has shaken far more local hands, and has been in contact with local media and community leaders on several occasions in efforts to improve his understanding of local issues and concerns ... we also like politicians who drive the extra mile to include us rural folks in the process. Thanks for dropping by, Stan. We urge Prowers County voters to consider that when they go to the polls."  read it yourself!

"Schaffer blended sharply
conservative views on
national issues with close
attention to the needs of
his district.

We think the candidate most
likely to match Schaffer's
dedication to solving the 4th
District's problems is state
Senate President Stan
Matsunaka"

The Denver Post

"Matsunaka a fit for 4th CD," proclaims the Denver Post. "In his eight years in the legislature, Matsunaka has been a tireless advocate for agriculture, rural educational needs and better access to health care. But the Loveland senator also worked closely with Republican Gov. Bill Owens to pass a bill last session to improve Colorado highways and rapid transit."  read it yourself!

"The conservative Blue Dog Democrats stand for working families, strong moral values, and fiscally conservative government, and I am honored to receive their endorsement," said Stan Matsunaka. "The Blue Dogs have a reputation for creating common-sense legislation with bipartisan support, a reputation I worked hard to earn as Colorado's Senate President. Coloradans are tired of partisan bickering and want a Congressman that will support good ideas over party politics."
